The Queen at 90

Marking both her 90th birthday and her milestone as Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II’s celebrations in 2016 captured a moment of profound national and international significance. Held within the grounds of Windsor Castle, the event honoured a lifetime of dedication to public service, to the country, the Commonwealth and beyond. Bringing together performers, military representatives, organisations and guests from around the world, the celebrations reflected the enduring respect and admiration inspired by Her Majesty’s remarkable reign and achievements.

Produced by St James’s House in partnership with the organisers of the birthday celebration at Windsor Castle, The Queen at 90 was conceived as the definitive commemorative publication for this historic occasion. Featuring an embossed cover bearing Arnold Machin’s iconic portrait of Elizabeth II, the lavish, limited-edition volume combined exceptional craftsmanship with editorial depth. Presented to VIP guests and released in a limited-edition retail run, the publication offered an elegant and lasting tribute, capturing both the grandeur of the celebrations and the legacy of the monarch at their centre.

Beautifully produced with sewn binding, a purple cloth finish, foil blocking and metallic ink detailing, The Queen at 90 offered a rich photographic journey through Elizabeth II’s life and reign while also exploring the evolving role of Britain and the Commonwealth across nine decades. Accompanied by a luxurious official event programme featuring commentary from royal experts and behind-the-scenes insights into the performers and organisations involved, the publication documented a spectacular production involving 900 horses and more than 1,500 participants from 12 nations. Together, the commemorative album and programme formed a unique collector’s set, preserving the scale, pageantry and emotional resonance of an extraordinary royal celebration.
